　　In the balanced signal line of the professional audio terminal connected to the XLR connector, pin 1 is always used as the ground wire. However, there is no clear regulation on which wire should be used to transmit the uninverted signal and which wire should be used to transmit the inverted signal. Generally, the wire that transmits the signal that has not been inverted is called the "hot" wire, and the wire that transmits the inverted signal is called the "cold" wire. It has been used so casually for decades.

　　The connection method in the balanced wiring can be determined by whether the polarity of the correct polarity in the professional audio system is reversed, that is, pin 2 or pin 3 should be connected to the "hot wire" (for the correct polarity, please refer to Appendix A1 of this book). Assuming that the audio system has not been inverted, that is, the positive signal on the LP compact disc or CD record is also a positive signal at the speaker input, you only need to add the balanced signal line to the pin 3 of the power amplifier. The “hot” signal is transformed into a “hot” signal on pin 2, which will cause the system to invert the phase.

　　When replacing balanced professional audio equipment, such as digital processors, preamplifiers or power amplifiers, you should first find out whether the XLR sockets on these new audio equipment are connected in the same way as the original equipment. Of course, it is possible to change the polarity of the sound system by changing the connection of pins 3 and 2 on the balanced signal line. However, the simplest way to change the polarity of the audio system is to change the two wires of the speaker cable, one red and one black. Assuming that pin 2 and pin 3 of the signal line are randomly changed, professional audio may make other systems unable to work normally or change the polarity when you don't want to change the polarity.
