When using a Bluetooth amplifier board, you will face the problem of how to choose a speaker, whether to choose a speaker with high impedance or a speaker with low impedance, in order to achieve better sound quality. Today, let me talk about the relevant knowledge of speakers.

What is a horn first? The speaker we often refer to is generally a device in the electroacoustic component that converts electrical signals into acoustic signals, also known as a speaker. It is composed of a coil, magnet, paper basin, etc. When different electronic energy is transmitted to the coil, the coil generates an energy interaction with the magnetic field of the magnet, which causes the paper bowl to vibrate. As the electronic energy changes at any time, the coil of the horn will move forward or backward, so the paper bowl of the horn will follow the movement. These actions cause changes in the density of the air and produce sound.

What is the impedance of a horn? Impedance refers to the ratio of the voltage to current of the speaker input signal, which is governed by Ohm's law. At the same voltage, a higher impedance will flow less current, while a lower impedance will flow more current. For example, the common indication value for horn impedance is 8 Ω, which means that when a 1KHz sine wave signal is input during factory testing of specifications, the impedance value it presents is 8 Ω; Or an average impedance value within the operating frequency response range of the horn.

The ohms of a speaker are determined by the amplifier, and the impedance is not a standard for measuring the quality of the speaker. The power is also selected based on the size of the amplifier. The preferred values for speaker impedance according to our national standards are 4 Ω, 8 Ω, and 16 Ω, while the recommended values for international standards are 8 Ω. Generally, there are 2 Ω, 4 Ω, 6 Ω, 8 Ω, and 16 Ω. Those above 16 Ω have high impedance, while those below 8 Ω have low impedance. The quality of the sound depends on many aspects, including the speaker, power amplifier, and sound source, regardless of the size of the speaker's ohms.
